Two-tsy Pop Class
— Two-year olds and an adult

This parent participation “grown up and me” program, is relatively new to Circle of Friends. We are thrilled that it has become a highly successful addition to our program.

This program was designed to offer growth opportunities to the little ones such as socialization, gross motor development, story time, finger plays, art, snack and choosing time. It is also provides support and social time for the grown-ups.

Miss Laura photoMiss Laura directs this sweet little class. This will be her seventh year with us and her second year with the Two-tsy Pop program. She is very excited to have put her creative efforts to works designing and overseeing this special class.

Miss Laura  Two-tsy Pops

  Three-year-old programs: Gumdrops & Gummi Bears classes

  • Class ratio is 1 adult and 8 children per classroom.
  • Curriculum is designed to involve movement and music as a means of introducing and exposing the little ones to an introduction of uppercase letter recognition and sounds, numbers, colors, shapes and basic signing.
  • Fine motor development involves cutting, coloring and early writing skills.
  • Socialization is learning to interact with others, being kind and considerate and learning to be comfortable speaking to others in a small group setting.
  • Creative opportunities through art and play.
Gumdroops

Gumdrops
— Young threes; turning three during March through August

Teachers: Miss Tara, Miss Angie, and Miss Deana

  • Miss Tara (2-day morning and afternoon)  – 6 years with Circle of Friends
    She brings years of experience working with children after receiving her degree in recreation. She is highly creative and loves to try new and exciting things.

  • Miss Angie (3-day morning)  – 8 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a contagious laugh and can’t wait to eagerly great each of her little friends as they arrive. Her high level of enthusiasm and patience is a gift to her students.

  • Miss Deana (3-day afternoon)  – 7 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a very soft and gentle demeanor. Working with the young threes is truly her heart’s desire and passion.

Gummi Bears

Gummi Bears
— Older threes; turning four in September through February

Teachers: Miss Beth, Miss Lindsay, Miss Carrie, and Miss Laura

  • Miss Beth (2-day morning and science)  – 14 years with Circle of Friends
    Her background in elementary education brings insight and wisdom to our threes program. She also runs our special Wednesday science program.

  • Miss Lindsay (2-day afternoon)  – 5 years with Circle of Friends
    She loves working with children and enjoys supporting their development and growth. She is patient and tender hearted and enjoys sharing her love of art and photography with children.

  • Miss Carrie (3-day mornings)  – 13 years with Circle of Friends
    Her team and students greatly benefit from her years of experience. She has an infectious laugh that can be heard throughout the day as she interacts with her three-year-olds.

  • Miss Laura (3-day afternoon)  – 7 years with Circle of Friends
    She is new to the Gummi Bear team, but is very excited to work with this age level. Her knowledge of technology brings a creative dynamics to the school and her classroom.

Pre-Kindergarten

  Four-year-old programs: Gumballs & Lollipops classes

  • Class ratio is 1 adult and 10 children per classroom.
  • Curriculum introduces and exposes the children to uppercase and lowercase letter recognition, sounds, numbers and counting, colors and shapes. Name recognition and writing. By mid-year start to combine letters and sounds to begin forming words. Numbers and counting leading to simple math.
  • Fine motor development involves cutting, coloring and early writing and some math skills. D’Nealian penmanship writing lessons.
  • Socialization is learning to interact with kindness and consideration of others, follow direction and being comfortable speaking and sharing with others in a small group setting.
  • Introduction to simple signing as well as numbers, letters and colors.
  • Creativity through both art and free play.
  • Computer time.
  • Wednesday science program.
  • Field Trips.
Gumballs

Gumballs
— Young Fours turning four during May through August

Teachers: Miss Audri and Miss Tricia

  • Miss Audri (2-day morning & afternoon and +-day Wednesday afternoon)  – 8 years with Circle of Friends
    Her engineering background brings a new level of creativity and organization to our staff. She enjoys researching new ideas and loves sharing her knowledge in American Sign Language with her little friends.

  • Miss Tricia (3-day morning and afternoon)  – 13 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a background in marketing and design, but prefers to be surrounded by her Gumballs. Tricia has an infectious laugh and cherishes each little personality God places in her care.

Lollipops
— Middle to older fours; turning four during January through April

Teachers: Miss Michell and Miss Laura

  • Miss Michell (2-day mornings and Wednesday +-day morning)  – 23 years with Circle of Friends
    Her year of experience, as well as her eagerness to acquire new and creative teaching ideas, only enhances her classroom environment.

  • Miss Laura (2-day afternoon)  – 7 years with Circle of Friends
    Her background in parks and recreation brings a high level of energy and creativity to the classroom. She is also the driving force behind our Two-tsy Pop program.

  • Miss Debbie (3-day morning and afternoon)  – 9 years with Circle of Friends
    She is soft-spoken and gentle. Her prior classroom involvement has helped prepared her for her ninth year at Circle of Friends. She was a part of the Gumball program for the past eight years and is excited about her new adventures in the Lollipop classroom. She is eager to provide each child with a truly positive and fruitful early childhood experience.

Jellybeans

Teacher: Miss Monica Miss Monica and a Jellybean

  • Miss Monica (4-day morning and afternoon)  – 8 years with Circle of Friends
    She has a background as a Christian educator and shares her various experiences having worked in all aspects of children's ministries. She has a soft spoken demeanor and a wonderful sense of humor.

Science TreeScience Program

Every Wednesday the four and five-year-old pre-k classes are engaged in our special program. Miss Beth involves the children in a hands on learning environment centered around various themes. This program incorporates the plant and animal life, math, seasonal changes, as well as hands on experimentation.

Debbie Johnson, Office Assistant

  • Miss Debbie is our glue and go-to person. We appreciate her 22 years of dedication and cheerful disposition. Her background is in elementary education and home economics. “Go Cougs!”
Miss Sharon

Sharon Wallenborn, Director

  • Miss Sharon has a background in early childhood education. She spent eleven years in the classroom and the last 24 years as the director of Circle of Friends.
